Safety

Safety is a top priority at Toyota Canada. That’s why the 4Runner is designed with an energy-absorbing body structure that efficiently and effectively channels impact energy around and away from the passenger cabin. Standard on all models, the backup camera also helps you to back up or back in to tight spots with greater confidence.

All 2024 4Runner models come equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) P.. TSS-P is a comprehensive suite of advanced active-safety technologies and capabilities designed to enhance protection and support your awareness and decision-making under a variety of conditions and contingencies.

One of the key features of TSS-P is the Pre-Collision System (PCS). This system provides collision avoidance or mitigation support in certain situations where a frontal collision is likely to occur. In some cases, the system will automatically apply the brakes to help the driver avoid a collision.

An additional safety feature included in TSS-P is Lane Departure Alert (LDA). This system alerts you if you start to drift out of your lane when visible white or yellow lane markings are detected.

For highway driving, the 4Runner comes equipped with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC). This system can automatically adjust your vehicle speed to maintain a preset following distance between you and the vehicle directly in front of you. It’s designed to work between speeds of approximately 40 km/h to 180 km/h.

All TSS-P packages feature Automatic High Beam (AHB) headlamps, which react to oncoming headlamps or preceding taillamps, automatically switching from high-beam to low-beam and then back again once other cars have moved to a safe distance. Additionally, Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) is standard on 4Runner SR5 and available on most models. BSM alerts you to the presence of vehicles that have entered your blind spot on either side, while RCTA helps you back up more confidently, warning you of approaching vehicles that may cross your path.
