All-Electrified Lineup: Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid

The 2026 RAV4 is Toyota’s first RAV4 generation to go fully electrified. There are no traditional gasoline-only engines offered—just hybrid and plug-in hybrid options that give you more efficiency, power, and capability.

Hybrid (HEV)

The hybrid version pairs a 2.5L four-cylinder engine with Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid system. Front-wheel drive models produce 226 horsepower, while the all-wheel drive version bumps output to 236 horsepower with the help of a rear-mounted electric motor.

This powertrain offers smooth acceleration, quiet operation, and impressive fuel economy—making it an excellent fit for Edmonton commuters, especially those navigating snowy roads during winter months. With increased torque and electric motor support, the RAV4 Hybrid feels quicker and more composed in both city and highway conditions.

Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV)

If you’re looking for more performance and a true EV experience, the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid delivers. With up to 320 horsepower and a dual-motor AWD layout, this version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in under 5.7 seconds.

It now offers up to 80 kilometres of pure electric driving—enough to handle most daily trips around Edmonton without using any gas. Whether you’re headed to Southgate Mall, University of Alberta, or downtown, the RAV4 PHEV can handle it all in electric mode.

And when it's time to recharge, the new CCS-compatible fast-charging system can restore 10% to 80% battery capacity in about 30 minutes. That makes longer road trips easier and more convenient than ever.

Toyota Safety Sense 4.0: Intelligence Meets Protection

The 2026 Toyota RAV4 is equipped with the most advanced Toyota Safety Sense system yet—TSS 4.0. This suite of technologies is designed to enhance awareness and assist in real-time driving situations, helping prevent accidents before they happen.

Features include a more responsive adaptive cruise control system, improved lane tracing assist, front cross-traffic alert, and lane-change assist. Predictive curve speed management helps the RAV4 automatically adjust its speed before bends in the road for added control.
