Oil Change Service

Our certified technicians will make sure your vehicle gets the right oil and filter every time. every time!

What Does Oil Do?

Modern vehicle engines are extremely complex, and consist of many moving parts, which are in constant contact with one another. The job of oil is to lubricate all of the moving parts, to reduce friction and ensure everything is able to move the way it should – without causing excess wear and tear and reducing the lifespan of your engine. Oil also helps to dissipate all of the heat that your engine produces during combustion. Finally, oil aids in preventing the build up of carbon and varnish – both of which reduce the effectiveness of your engine, making it work harder and reducing its lifespan. So it’s safe to say that oil is important, it’s like the life blood of your vehicle.

Engine Oil Wears Out and Needs to be Changed

Due to the dissipation of heat that we mentioned, oil breaks down over time, and becomes less effective as a lubricant. Without proper lubrication, the friction created by all of the moving parts cause excess heat, which can cause massive damage to crucial parts of your engine. Not changing your oil also means your vehicle will be susceptible to carbon deposits in the cooler parts of your engine, which again are damaging to performance and longevity. Further neglect of oil changes can cause extremely costly repairs – trust us, an oil change is dirt cheap compared to an engine replacement.

So When Should I Change My Oil?

The recommendation for most Toyota vehicles is between 5,000km and 7,500km, though there are many additional factors that can change the life of your oil, which include the weather, what type of oil you were previously using (synthetic or regular), your driving habits, and the type of vehicle you drive. The best suggestion we have to determine the life of your oil is to come get an oil change and ask the technician when you should come in next, as they know your vehicle and the oil inside and out. It’s important to note that even if you haven’t hit the number suggested, that you should still change your oil as the temperatures change, as different weights of oil work better in certain temperatures – and we all know how big of a temperature difference there is between summer and winter in Alberta.
